AudEx Visualise – Empowering Magic Light to Unlock Media Insights

Magic Light Pictures  is an Oscar-nominated and BAFTA-winning creator of family entertainment and brands, managing production, distribution, licensing, and marketing. As a leader in children’s animation, the company has an impressive catalogue that includes iconic titles such as The Gruffalo, Room on a Broom, and Zog.

Challenge

As a content maker, Magic Light needs to understand if their content is being viewed by its intended audience and the value of its inclusion within the schedule. Christmas is a particularly important season as Magic Light’s animations frequently premiere on Christmas Day. 2024 was no exception with the film animation of Julia Donaldson’s book ‘Tiddler’ watched by 3.2 million viewers on Christmas Day, rising to over 5 million when playback over the following 28 days is included. In fact, Magic Light content filled the Christmas schedule, with 12 specials airing over the period and requiring performance monitoring.

Magic Light is keen to know audience levels as soon as possible and historically have relied on static Excel reports which are less efficient in allowing an easy assessment of many variables, tracking performance, and allowing strategic decisions to be made quickly. As the UK media industry becomes more data-driven, Magic Light needed a solution to streamline processes and keep pace with the evolving landscape.

Solution

AudEx Visualise, a cloud-based media data portal, was implemented as the solution to transform Magic Light’s data access. By moving away from static Excel reports, Magic Light is now able to dynamically review audience figures, including as-viewed data, and track audience build day by day.

Accessible on both desktop and mobile devices, the platform allows Magic Light’s team to see real-time insights wherever they are.
